NURS 673 Legal and Social Issues in Health Informatics

This course introduces the ethical, legal, and social issues arising from the use of computerized technology and information systems in delivering health care. Students will be exposed to the role of law in the design and implementation of health informatics systems; the U.S. health-care regulatory environment; and the structure, concepts, and process of decision making on health matters by legislative, administrative, and judicial bodies. Also emphasized will be patient confidentiality and the privacy and safety of clinical data.
