DHYG 302 Introduction to Dental Hygiene Practice w/Lab

(formerly DHYG 140) Provides the student with basic concepts and theories related to practice of clinical dental hygiene as well as an introduction to the WCU patient care system. Emphasis is placed on didactic knowledge of clinic protocol, patient assessment, treatment interventions, and recognition of abuse. Provides the dental health care worker with the principles and practical application concepts of infection control in dentistry with discussion and application of the governmental agency standards. Methods of instruction include guided facilitation, demonstration, case studies, and classroom activities.
