Clinical Rotations, Practica and Fieldwork

California Campuses:  Clinical, practica, and fieldwork experience required in some programs enable students to work with patients in order to apply the competencies and practices learned in the classroom in a real world setting. Students participating in clinical or fieldwork training work under the direct supervision of University faculty. Florida Campus:  Clinical and practicum experience required in some programs enable students to work with patients in order to apply the competencies and practices learned in the classroom in a real world setting.  Students participating in clinical training work under the direct supervision of University faculty. Students will be assigned a clinical site or rotation that may require travel that is a greater distance than the student’s commute to the campus.  Site locations may be up to 75 miles away.  The University cannot guarantee a particular site of geographic location.  Students are required to provide their own transportation to and from the clinical site. It should be expected that the hours and days of a rotation will vary depending on the clinical site.  Shifts may be assigned for any hour of the day or night. Shift hours cannot be guaranteed.  See program specific requirements for clinical placements.

Texas Campus:  Clinical and practicum experience required in some programs enable students to work with patients in order to apply the competencies and practices learned in the classroom in a real world setting.  Students participating in clinical training work under the direct supervision of University faculty.  See program specific requirements for clinical placement in the program specific admissions requirements.



Nursing Student Clinical Schedule

The number of contact hours required for each clinical course must be met by the end of the term, regardless of holidays within the term. The total number of contact hours required can be found on the course syllabi. Precepted courses must fulfill the required contact hours for each course on a schedule agreed upon between the Student and Preceptor, by the end of the term.

Dental Hygiene Student Clinical Schedule

Dental Hygiene students enrolled in preclinical or clinical courses are to follow the schedule as presented by the course director.
