PHAR 601L Longitudinal Skills Lab I

This course is the first in a series of six practicums in the curriculum designed to provide students with the opportunity to practice essential skills and use knowledge learned in didactic courses to build and develop these skills in a sequential and integrated way. Longitudinal Skills Lab I provides a hands-on introduction to non-sterile compounding with an emphasis on extemporaneous preparation of solid, semi-solid, and liquid dosage forms. Pharmaceutical calculations are practiced, and students start to develop patient consultation skills pertaining to prescription and over the counter therapeutics, demonstrate immunization techniques and vital signs assessment.
