NURS 799 DNP Experiential Hours

This independent study provides the opportunity for Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students to integrate leadership skills related to their advanced nursing roles through experiential hours that are consistent with the DNP Essentials. Maximum hours per term will be individualized and approved by the advisor. Students complete 1,000 post-baccalaureate experiential hours to support the focus of the DNP program. A total of 490 precepted or supervised clinical hours completed in a graduate MSN program are transferrable to the DNP program. A minimum of 510 experiential hours are required to be completed in the DNP program. Students complete 330 experiential hours during the project courses. If an hours deficit exists, students are required to take a zero credit Independent Study course. NURS 799 will be taken every term prior to the DNP Clinical Project courses to fulfill the 1,000 experiential hours requirement. Enrollment is not required; students will log hours in the Medatrax system.
