NURS 661 Family Theory and Assessment

This course will focus on the nursing assessment of the health of the entire family, to identify health problems and risk factors, and to assist in the development and implementation of interventions to address health concerns, The student will gain the knowledge needed to focus on the entire family to provide primary care provided to patients of all ages, ranging from infant to geriatric health. The family is a social system or group of interacting individuals, and family health can be viewed as series of dynamic life experiences. Students will learn family nursing theory and be exposed to a broader range of knowledge and skills in order to care for their patients. From health promotion to end of life, students will gain knowledge of the skills associated with being a diagnostician, collaborator, provider of health care services and educator.
