CMHC 645 Group Counseling and Practice

This didactic and experiential course provides the foundation for understanding the theories, dynamics, principles, and techniques of group counseling. Students are exposed to various models for conducting therapeutic groups with diverse populations throughout the course. Basic group counseling skills, stages of group formation, confidentiality, co-counseling in groups, and group counseling from a family systems perspective are also explored. Students engage in the experiential practice of group, both as a member and group leader, during Immersive II. Course delivery methods for teaching and learning include online, blended, and face to face modalities.
